Year of the Golden Snake |
|
Chinese Astrology is based on the cycle of the Moon, and not those of the Sun, planets and the stars. Chinese have used 12 animals to express the zodiacal time. The Chinese New Year does not fall on the same date each year, although it is always in January or February. The Chinese zodiac is based on 12 animal signs. It is believed that the ruling animal of the year a person is born in, hides in the heart of that person. There is a very interesting story behind how this belief came into existence: When Lord Buddha was leaving the earth - 12 animals came to bid him farewell. As a result, Lord Buddha rewarded them by saying that each of the 12 animals would rule over a period of time. Each animal here, like the 12 signs of the zodiac has a unique character and personality of its own - which in turn, it bestows to a person born in that year. The 12 animal signs and the five elements together comprise the personality or the characteristics of the individual. The year of the Dragon ends on 23rd Jan 2001. The Chinese New Year day is on January 24th 2001. The Year 2001 is a Chinese Golden Snake Year or the year of the Snake. Find out what this year has in store for you.
